Eleven Years of Current Swell
Rifflandia 2010, a long time ago...
As I was cleaning up and browsing through photos I was reminiscing on all the shows I’ve seen in the past 11 years. We decided to do a little blog post of our collection and it’s awesome to look back. We’ve been fortunate enough to have incredible talent on our doorstep with bands like Current Swell, Jesse Roper, Jon & Roy, Carmanah, Astrocolor, Vince Vaccaro, Aiden Knight, Maurice, Acres of Lions, Hot Hot Heat and on and on. Lucky? Yeah, we are…
Back in 2010 Rifflandia was still in their beginnings with this their 3rd year. Market Square was the main stage with only 3500 fans across all venues compared with 4500+ on each day at Royal Athletic Park by itself. Thinking back I am so grateful for what Rifflandia has done for the music scene in Victoria and the hundreds(?) of concerts I’ve been able to see and photograph. I’ve met so many amazing people from the musicians, the photographers and videographers to security. So many great memories, so much great music…
These guys have consistently been the soundtrack to many of our lives so turn on some Current Swell and enjoy the journey.

You could say Current Swell brought Mandy and I together at this show. It was the night we first met and one of the best shows I’ve seen from the guys. Love those small stages…

The return to live music came in hard and fast. Steven Franke and Morgan Brooker put together a wicked fun weekend that was seriously hard to comprehend. It was such a soul filling feeling to walk around amongst all the people with smiles on everyone’s faces just begging to be in each other’s bubble. I’ll never forget the feeling of this weekend. This was also the first concert Mandy and I photographed together. So epic!
Shout out to Dave fist bumping me below. So great to see the guys all together again!
